Early Life and Career
Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana was born on July 13, 2007, in Esplugues de Llobregat, a town in Catalonia, Spain. His father, Mounir Nasraoui, is of Moroccan origin, and his mother, Sheila Ebana, is from Equatorial Guinea. Although he was born near Barcelona, Yamal spent most of his childhood in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró, a working-class district he has honored throughout his career with his signature "304" goal celebration — a reference to the area's postal code. His first name reportedly comes from two strangers, named Lamine and Yamal, who helped his parents during a difficult period.
Yamal joined Barcelona's famed La Masia academy at the age of seven and quickly stood out as the best talent of his generation. He consistently played in age groups above his own, and his rapid development caught the eye of then-first-team coach Xavi Hernández, who invited the teenager to train with the senior squad in September 2022. On April 29, 2023, Yamal made his first-team debut as a substitute in a 4-0 win over Real Betis, becoming the youngest player ever to appear for Barcelona's senior side at 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old.
The 2023-24 season marked his full breakthrough. He became the club's youngest-ever starter in La Liga, the youngest scorer in the club's history, and the youngest player to reach 10 goal contributions in the Spanish top flight. Internationally, his rise was even more spectacular. Called up by Spain for Euro 2024, Yamal starred on the right wing throughout the tournament, scoring a stunning curler against France in the semifinal — the goal of the competition — and providing four assists. He was named the tournament's Young Player of the Tournament the day before turning 17, as Spain lifted the trophy. In 2025, he won the Kopa Trophy for the second consecutive year, becoming the first player in history to claim the award back to back, and helped Barcelona win the La Liga title.
After his 18th birthday in July 2025, Yamal was handed Barcelona's legendary number 10 shirt — the number Lionel Messi wore during his years at the club — and promptly signed a long-term contract extension running through June 2031. The deal included a €1 billion release clause, designed to make any transfer approach economically impossible. In the 2025-26 season, he established himself as Barcelona's creative leader, registering 24 goals and 17 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions, including 16 goals and 11 assists in La Liga, with observers routinely comparing his two-footed dribbling and vision to Messi's own early years at the Camp Nou.
Personal Life
Lamine Yamal keeps most of his private life out of the spotlight, but his high-profile romance with Argentine rapper Nicki Nicole drew enormous media attention. The pair publicly confirmed their relationship in August 2025, with the singer describing herself as being deeply in love and frequently attending Barcelona matches. The relationship lasted roughly three months before the couple parted ways in November 2025. In a Spanish television interview, Yamal confirmed the split was mutual and denied rumors of infidelity, stressing that the separation had nothing to do with gossip surrounding a trip to Italy.
Earlier in his career, during Euro 2024, Yamal was briefly linked to Alex Padilla, and tabloid speculation has since connected him to other names — including a reported but unconfirmed link with Spanish influencer Inés García in 2026 — though none of those rumors were ever verified by the player. As things stand, Yamal is not married, has no children, and has no publicly confirmed partner. He lives in Barcelona and is known to be close to his family, particularly his mother, who has been a constant presence throughout his rise. Away from football, he is one of the sport's most marketable young stars, fronting long-term partnerships with Adidas and appearing in major global campaigns. His "304" celebration and his journey from Rocafonda to the biggest stages in football have made him a cultural figure in Spain far beyond the pitch.
Net Worth
Lamine Yamal's estimated net worth sits between $8 million and $15 million, according to various financial trackers — an attributed estimate that has climbed rapidly since his Euro 2024 breakout. The foundation of his wealth is his Barcelona contract. The extension he signed in 2025 tied him to the Catalan club through June 2031 with a reported base salary of around $18 million per year, plus performance bonuses tied to appearances, goals, and team trophies that can push his annual football earnings toward $27 million before taxes.
Off the pitch, Yamal is among the most commercially valuable teenagers in world sport. He signed a lucrative 10-year partnership with Adidas in 2024, reportedly worth up to $34 million over the life of the deal, and his portfolio also includes deals with brands such as Beats by Dre, OPPO, Konami, and Powerade. His endorsement income is estimated at around $10 million per year and growing. With a €1 billion release clause in his contract and a market value among the highest on the planet, his fortune is expected to multiply many times over before he reaches his mid-twenties.
